We’re thrilled to confirm that 1 New Park Square has been awarded the prestigious British Council of Offices award for Best Commercial Workplace in Scotland. 1 New Park Square is Parabola’s flagship commercial building in Edinburgh Park’s innovative office development in the new quarter of the city.
The British Council for Offices promotes and celebrates industry standard and new benchmarks, defining excellence in the commercial sector. Parabola won the Regional Award for the Scottish Region for Commercial Workplace, essentially any development which has commenced on a speculative basis. Regarded as one of the most competitive categories of the 5 categories, with schemes in Aberdeen, Glasgow and also Edinburgh in the running.
This latest accolade follows the Architects’ Journal award to 1 New Park Square in the "Workplace Project (£20 million and over)" category at the AJ Architecture Awards 2023. 1 New Park Square was also named “Outright Winner” at the prestigious Concrete Society Awards.
The BCO judging panel commented:

The judging panel awarded the building for its world-class arrival experience and open plan floors. Commenting that it is an exceptional building using high quality finishes and attention to detail throughout. The judges recognised its blend of natural materials and exposed concrete. The needs of tenants have been well understood with the provision of excellent health and wellbeing facilities as well as public restaurants, which have become an attraction in their own right. The panel commented that 1 New Park Square marks the start of the next exciting phase of development of Edinburgh Park.”
Parabola’s Managing Director, Tony Hordon, says:
“Parabola is delighted to be recognised as a regional winner by the BCO, which really is the voice of the industry. Every year there are regional awards to recognise and promote excellence and new standards in the sector. It is therefore wonderful to be recognised by the BCO, given their standing in the industry. More importantly, it is a lovely and very well-deserved acknowledgment for the team who have worked tirelessly, thoughtfully and passionately over many years. It is a privilege to be part of this team and what it is achieving, not only at 1 New Park Square, but also on the wider scheme at Edinburgh Park.”
1 New Park Square is the first in a series of new offices being delivered at Edinburgh Park. At ground floor, a new venue ‘Patina’ opens out to a new civic square (designed by Gross.Max). Featuring a bar, 260-cover restaurant, artisan bakery and live music venue, Patina has been brought to Edinburgh by the successful team behind Newcastle’s Kiln. The highly sustainable building includes four storeys of flexible office space, a 150-seat conference space, and access to a range of fitness amenities.
